About

Yarnqueer was founded by Quintin in 2020 as a solo creative practice; a way to turn softness into spectacle, stitching boldness into every loop. Raised among his mother’s yarn and tapestries, he grew up with threads in his hands and color in his bones. What began as personal expression soon bloomed into something brighter, louder, and queerer.

Marcelo moved to the U.S. from Costa Rica in 2022, and the stars aligned soon after. We met, fell in love, and eventually got married. In 2025, Marcelo joined Yarnqueer full-time, bringing structure, support, and an uncanny knack for keeping everything running behind the scenes.

Today, we live and work together in Somerville, Massachusetts, turning our home into a studio filled with color, chaos, and care. Quintin designs and tufts every piece by hand, while Marcelo handles operations and logistics, making sure the art stays wild and the business stays afloat.

Yarnqueer is a shared act of creation. It’s built from both of our hands, in different ways. The name is a tribute to the path that brought us here and the pride we carry in who we are, in what we’re building, and in the joy we get to share through it.

Thanks for being part of the journey.
